Our Mission
We are motivated to partnering with parents to lay the foundation for a strong start in literacy education. Through project work, the children will develop exceptional phonics/reading readiness and comprehension skills, and we will provide students with the confidence necessary for a successful transition into their next phase of education.
At Gilmore Prep, we expose the children to high quality children’s literature daily. We keep our classroom library diversified so that all of the children can see themselves in the storybooks.
Our Philosophy
Gilmore Prep was created out of a passion for literacy, particularly early literacy experiences. We are devoted to developing reading skills in emergent readers in a stimulating, nurturing environment. Young children’s early literacy experiences are critically important to their later success in school and life. Therefore, the teachers at Gilmore Prep believe in providing age appropriate hands-on, literacy-based experiences by engaging students in project work. Through these early literacy activities, we will also help students grow emotionally, physically, and socially. Preschool is an important step in a child’s education, and sets the stage for all future school involvement. Therefore, we believe that early literacy is an investment in the future.
